Carleton is a village at the south of Pontefract in the West Riding of Yorkshire, forming in essence an outer suburb of the town. It is now contiguous with the south end of Pontefract, on the road to Darrington.

The village has a parish church, St Michael the Archangel.

There are two schools here (The Rookeries Carleton Junior and Infants School and Carleton Community High School.
