Elwick is a hamlet on Shapinsay, one of the isles of Orkney. Elwick is on the south shore of the island, beside Balfour. Both are on the edge of the bay also known as Elwick, and on the B9059. The hamlet is named from the bay.
Bay
Elwick is a small, round bay at the south-west of Shapinsay, facing south towards the Mainland and it which provides the island its sheltered anchorage at Balfour. The east side of the bay is sheltered by a small island, Helliar Holm, to which Shapinsay is connected by rocks at low tide.
