Williamhope' is a tiny hamlet alone on a hill in Selkirkshire, with just a single, unfenced track leading down to any other habitation, which it finds at Peel and Ashiestiel, adjacent villages barely larger on the bank of the Yarrow Water.

The hamlet is on a minor burn between Ashiestiel Hill (1,319 feet) and Brown Knowe (1,716 feet) within the Ettrick Forest. Over the hill to the west are the Elibank and Traquair Forest and down the hill and over the Glenkinnon Burn to the east is the Yair Hill Forest. The River Tweed is a mile and a half to the north, Ashietiel Hill standing between.
