The Orville Coast is that portion of the east coast of Palmer Land in the British Antarctic Territory which forms the north-west coastline of the Ronne Ice Shelf, between Cape Adams and Cape Zumberge.
This coast was seen from the air at the cliffs of the Dodson Peninsula and south-westward by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition of 1947–48 commanded by Captain Finne Ronne: Ronne named this coast 'Orville Escarpment' for Captain Howard Thomas Orville of the United States Navy, Head of the Naval Aerological Service and Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Air) 1943-50, who was largely responsible for formulating the expedition's meteorological programme. The name "Orville Coast" was later given, considered a more useful reference than 'Orville Escarpment'.
The coast was photographed from the air by the United States Navy, 1965-67, and mapped from air photographs by the United States Geological Survey.
