Beinn Iutharn Mhòr is a mountain amongst the Cairnwell Hills on the border of Aberdeenshire with Perthshire, at the head of Glen Ey.

This is a bulky mountain, a Munro rising to 3,428 feet above sea level at its summit. This summit sits at the west end of a craggy ridge with spectacularly sharp drops to the north.

Beinn Iutharn Mhor has two subsidiary tops:

• Beinn Iutharn Bheag to the south-east of the summit and
• Mam nan Carn to the south-west,

- both adding to the looming presence of the mountain over its southern face.

Ascent

Beinn Iutharn Mhòr is normally climbed in conjunction with Càrn Bhac, to which it is connected by a long ridge running north from the eastern end of the main Beinn Iutharn Mhòr summit ridge.

The approach to the mountain is usually from Inverey to the north, followed by a long walk or cycle, though on a well kept path, to Altanour Lodge. From the lodge the approach is can either head north-west up Càrn Bhac or south-east up Beinn Iutharn Mhor, in which case the route is up its long north-eastern ridge all the way to the summit. From the east of the summit area the ridge reaches out to Cárn Bhac, allowing a route back to the lodge down the latter's slopes.

From Càrn Bhac is displayed a fine view over the spectacle that is the north face of Beinn Iutharn Mhòr perhaps the best feature of the hill.
