Bayr ny Skeddan is a walking route in the Isle of Man between the towns of Castletown and Peel.[1] It is about 14 miles long, and reaches a maximum height of about 1,000 feet at the Round Table below the South Barrule.
The name chosen for the footpath is from the Manx language; Bayr ny Skeddan means 'Herring Road', since it is follows the route which fishermen once took as they journeyed between the two ports. The path uses old public roads and public footpaths.
From Castletown, about the first three miles of the route coincide with that of the Millennium Way, in a northerly direction through Ballasalla and Silverdale Glen. At GR274725 the route turns north-west in the direction of the South Barrule, reaching the Round Table after about another thre miles. The path continues north downhill through Glen Mooar to the hamlet of Glenmaye and along the cliff top to Peel.
