Wolfscote Dale is a peaceful, steep-sided dale on the course of the River Dove, forming the border of Staffordshire to the west and Derbyshire to the east. On the course of the river, Wolfescote Dale is above, to the north of, Dovedale itself or may be considered a distinctive part of it.
