Whitrope is a densely forested area in Roxburghshire, high in the fells of the Southern Uplands, at the edge of the Wauchope Forest. It is managed for forestry by the Forestry Commission.
The forest is to be found about twelve miles south of Hawick on the B6399 road.
The 'Whitrope Rail Heritage Centre' is here, commemorating the railway which once ran over these hills.
The woodland contains a network of Heritage Trails, including the Ritson Trail, named after William Ritson, a contractor from the Victorian era, and responsible for the Shankend Viaduct, Riccarton Junction, and Whitrope Tunnel and summit.
