Trepassey Island lies to the south of Fitzroy Point in Neny Bay off the Fallières Coast of Graham Land, within the British Antarctic Territory.
The island was roughly mapped by the British Graham Land Expedition in 1936 and by the United States Antarctic Service in 1940. In 1947, the area was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Stonington Island and charted as two islands, named the 'Trepassey Islets' after the the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey charter ship Trepassey (after which Trepassey Bay is also named). A survey station was established here in February 1946
The 'islets' were resurveyed by the British Antarctic Survey in 1961-62, which determined that they were a single island, now named Trepassey Island.
