Thonock
Thonock was a village in Lindsey, the northern part of Lincolnshire, which stood some two miles north of the town of Gainsborough, along what os now the A159 road. All that remain today are a couple of houses along the road in the approximate location, which retain the name of Thonock on the map.

The Domesday Book of 1086 records Thonock as having five households.[1]
The mediæval village was deserted and there are now no visible earthworks. It is known that Thonock was considered a part of Gainsborough in the early 14th century, and that in later centuries it was a small settlement which included the hamlet of Havercroft, and when High and Low (Nether) Thonock are mentioned.[2]
Havercroft, the other lost settlement, was located at SK828932, in the present parish of Morton. There are no earthworks here either, though aerial photography clearly shows the boundaries of the village (bisected now by the Gainsborough to Grimsby railway line).
Thonock civil parish was created from part of Gainsborough parish in 1894, but was later dissolved in 1974.[3]
A golf club is based at Thonock Park.
