The Hyde is a locality in the centre of Middlesex, top the west of of within Hendon.

The village is today continguous with the metropolis, in the corner between the M1 motorway and the Edgware Road and the Welsh Harp reservoir to the south. It is on the Silk Stream just as it is running down the reservoir, where before Welsh Harp was created it would have met the River Brent.

History

The name is first recorded in 1281 as la Hyde meaning the hide of land, the amount of land considered enough to support a family, around 120 acres.[1] The Hendon Brewery was built here in 1855.
