SkelmersdaleSkelmersdale is a New Town in Lancashire, in the West Derby Hundred. It stands lies on high-ground on the River Tawd, six miles west of Wigan, and thirteen miles northeast of Liverpool. New as it is in its current form, the town is noted by name in the Domesday Book of 1086, and grew in the Industrial Revolution. (Read more) |
