Aberdare Aberdare is an industrial town in Glamorgan, sitting within the Cynon Valley where the Rivers Dare and Cynon meet. Aberdare is four miles southwest of Merthyr Tydfil, and twenty-four miles north-west of the county town, Cardiff. The town owes its present form to the coal mines opened in the valley and in the industry it brought in the Victorian age. (Read more)
