Steinheil Point is the west entrance point of Lester Cove, which indents Andvord Bay on the Danco Coast of Graham Land in the British Antarctic Territory.
This headland was photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition and surveyed from the ground by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 'Danco Island' in 1956-57. It is named in association with the names of pioneers of photogrammetry grouped in this area – after Adolf Steinheil (1832-93), German mathematical optician who designed and introduced an improved aplanatic camera lens in 1866, and the telephoto lens in 1891.
