Information |
St George's Meadows is a sixteenth century, timber-framed farmhouse in West Drayton in the west of Middlesex. It is a remarkable survival amidst the encroachments of suburbia, and is now in the care of the National Trust. It is a Grade II listed building.[1]
The house has two storeys, and was built with three bays; with an extra bay added at right a little later probably as a separate cottage, though the house is now all one residence. It has a high pitched, tiled roof, and the exposed framing on 1st floor shows pattern of ogee braces with fairly close-set uprights.
The ground floor of the house has been brought forward, probably in the 18th century, but the work of several centuries is visible
This house was formerly the home of Havelock Ellis.
