The Ulva ferry

The Sound of Ulva is a narrow sea channel in the Inner Hebrides running between the isles of Mull and Ulva in Argyllshire.

The southern mouth of the sound opens into Loch Na Keal, which indents's Mull's west coast. The northern entrance to the sound shrinks almost blocked by smaller islands known as Eilean a' Chaolais ('islands of the sound'), and beyond this near stoppage to the north-west the lies Loch Tuath, itself lying between Ulva and Mull.

A passenger ferry crosses the sound, providing the only regular access to Ulva.

The passenger ferry between Mull and Ulva crosses the sound, providing the only regular access to Ulva, and the boat to Staffa heads out from here too.
