Skerry Hill
County Antrim

Skerry Hill is a mountain in the midst of the Antrim Hills of County Antrim, reaching 1,506 feet.

Though one of the higher hills of the range, Skerry Hill is overshadowed in popularity by its near neighbours, Slievenanee (1,781 feet) two miles to the east and mighty Trostan, the county top (1,804 feet) to the north-east.

This is nevertheless an impressive hill with fine views from its summit.

Ascent

Two roads run up Skerry Hill, making access a simple matter and a climb less of a challenge: the road climbs to within some 350 feet of the height of the summit. More of a walk may be made of it by taking the Moyle Way / Ulster Way up Trostan and traversing the three summits, which may be followed by reaching for the delightfully named Slievenahanaghan.

The view from the summit looks out to the wind farm on Slievenahanaghan and to Slieveanorra behind its forest, while to the east and north-east Slievenanee and Trostan dominate. Beyond to the south and south-west many of the prominent of the Antrim Hills appear as far as Divis in the Belfast Hills, and Lough Neagh to the south-west.
