Shipton Bellinger is a village in Hampshire, found about five miles north-east of Amesbury and twelve miles north-east of the City of Salisbury. It is on the A338 road, near its junction with the A303, hard by the Wiltshire border, which is marked here by the Devil's Ditch.
The village is at the edger of Salisbury Plain, just outside the danger zone of the Plain, and close to Tidworth Camp. Many Army families live in the village.
About the village
The parish church, St Peter, is a Norman church.
The River Bourne flows through the village, southwards to join the River Avon in Salisbury.
The village has a public house, a sports and social club, a village shop, a primary school, a village hall and a used car dealer.
Events
The Shipton Bellinger Village Fete is held for each year for village charitable purposes. It has a craft and dog show, and also has an annual short story competition for the local area ('Shipton Shorts').
