Ranby is a village in Lindsey, the northern part of Lincolnshire, found about six miles north-west of the nearest market town, Horncastle.
"Randebi" is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086, consisting of 29 households, a mill and one church.[1]
The parish church, St German, dates from the 12th century, although it was rebuilt in 1861 by James Fowler reusing earlier fragments. The church is a Grade II listed building.[2]
Ranby Hall is a Grade II listed brick country house dating from 1868.[3]
