Pangbourne Meadow
Pangbourne Meadow is a lovely riverside meadow which stretches eastwards from Pangbourne along the Berkshire bank of the River Thames. Much of the meadow belongs to the National Trust and it is jointly managed by the Trust and Pangbourne Parish Council.
The meadow is open at all times and is popular for walks from the village. There is a playground on the meadow and facilities by the entrance. The grass is kept mown, and many a picnick and ball game is enjoyed here in the summertime.
The Thames Path runs through the meadow. There is free mooring (for 24 hours) along the river bank by the meadow.
Nature reserves
Part of the meadow is a nature reserve. The reserve is mostly grassland, with reeds and scrub on the side away from the river. The alder trees by the river are a typical Thames species.
Close by is Beale Park at Basildon, which also has an area of conservation, and it can be reached by a two-mile stroll along the riverbank. A three-mile walk up the River Pang from Pangbourne comes to Tidmarsh and the Moor Copse Reserve.
