Newbridge-on-Usk is a hamlet in the ancient parish of Tredunnock, near Usk, Monmouthshire.
Location
Newbridge-on-Usk is located on the River Usk five miles to the north of Newport in the Vale of Usk. It lies below the steep Wentwood escarpment and is close to the historic towns of Caerleon and Usk. It is about four miles from the junction 24 of the M4 motorway via the B4237 Coldra, B4236 and Catsash Road.
History and amenities
At the river is the Newbridge Inn, once owned by radio and television presenter Chris Evans.[1] The inn is owned and run by the Celtic Manor Resort.[2] It offers bed and breakfast facilities in six newly-built, en-suite rooms and has an AA-award winning restaurant.[3]
The bridge stands at the Normal Tidal Limit (NTL) of the River Usk (as shown on the Ordnance Survey map).
