Mite and Main Skerries
The Mite and Main Skerries are two sets of rocks in Lystad Bay on the coast of Horseshoe Island off the Fallières Coast of Graham Land in the British Antarctic Territory.
The name of these rocks, Mite Skerry and Mane Skerry, is from a local mis-spelling of the phrase "might and main".
Mite Skerry
- Location map: 67°51’34"S, 67°18’19"W
This is the southernmost island in Lystad Bay, rising 16 feet above sea level. It was roughly charted by the Argentine Antarctic Expedition of 1952-53, which called it simply 'Islote Sur' ('south islet'). The skerry was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1955-57, and given its current name.
Mane Skerry
- Location map: 67°50’16"S, 67°17’37"W
This is the north-westernmost island in Lystad Bay, rising 33 feet above sea level. It was roughly charted by the Argentine Antarctic Expedition of 1952-53, and called 'Islote Norte' ('north islet') It was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1955-57 and named Mane Skerry in association with the smaller Mite Skerry.
