Michaelston-super-Avon

Michaelston-super-Avan or Michaelston-super-Avon is an ancient parish in the Neath Hundred of Glamorgan in the Avan Valley. The original village now forms part of Cwmavon, 1½ miles north-east of Port Talbot, and 4½ miles south-east of Neath.

The parish consists of the townships of Lower Michaelstone and Upper Michaelstone. Lower Michaelstone includes the village of Cwmavon, and Upper Michaelstone includes the hamlet of Pontrhydyfen.
