Maize Beck

The Maize Beck is a stream amongst the Pennine fells which marks the border here between The North Riding of Yorkshire and Westmorland, until it joins the infant River Tees just after the latter leaves the churning waters of Cauldron Snout: where the two streams meet is the three-shire point at the meeting of County Durham, Westmorland and Yorkshire.
The beck is formed by innumerable streams running off Dufton Fell. From here it flows eastwards, much of it followed by the Pennine Way.
