Lumley Bridge, also known as the New Lumley Bridge, is a modern, concrete bridge that carries the B1284 over the River Wear in County Durham on its route from Chester-le-Street to Woodstone and Fence Houses. The new bridge replaced an earlier steel bridge that stood a little downstream. It was designed by the local highway authority.
It is a low bridge painted a striking blue and stands next to Durham County Cricket club's ground. Lumley Castle is across the river on the east side. Footpaths along both river banks lead downstream past all the town's other bridges.
The older Lumley Bridge was demolished in 1997, the year the New Lumley Bridge was built. Its old stone abutments remain in place.
