The A1(M) Bridge is a charmless 1960s concrete bridge carrying the A1(M) motorway section over the River Wear in County Durham. It is a beam construction of reinforced concrete, supported on two V-shaped piers.
This bridge is one of the major bridges on the Durham section of the A1M. Each carriageway is separately structured. There are five spans and the bridge is 345 feet between the abutments.
The bridge was completed in 1968. The motorway itself was officially opened in September 1969.
