Lochs is a parish on the south-east of the isle of Lewis in Ross-shire, adjacent to Harris in Inverness-shire. The parish is situated 12 miles south-west of Stornoway, bordering the parishes of Uig to the west, Stornoway to the north and Harris to the south. It includes the Shiant Isles, and also Seaforth Island in Loch Seaforth, an island equally shared with Harris in Inverness-shire.
This parish derives its name from the great number of lochs by which it is distinguished. Sea lochs include Loch Shiphoirt, Loch Claidh, Loch Bhrolluim, Loch Sealg, Loch Odhairn, Loch Erisort, Loch Liurboist, which innumerable freshwater lochs inland.
Excepting Balallan, there are no other villages in the parish, with the inhabitants living in scattered crofting townships, hamlets or farms. They include, Leurbost, Grimshader, Crossbost, Keose, Laxay, Arivruaich, Kershader, Garvyard, Cromore, Gravir, Lemreway and Eishken. The total population in 2001 was 1,814.
The main A859 from Stornoway to Harris passes through the parish.
