Loch nan Ealachan

Loch nan Ealachan is a small, inland loch in Sutherland at the north-western end of Loch More. When the water is high, as oftenmost they are, the two lochs merge, and the path between them is made by stepping stones and a small bridge.

The name of this water means "Lake of the Swans". Its neighbouring loch is more dully "Big Lake".

A hamlet named Achfary stands by the shore of the wee loch. North-east of it rises a prodigious mountain, Ben Stack (2,362 feet).
