Lepton is a village near Huddersfield, in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It is four miles east of, and 400 feet above, the town centre, directly north of Lepton Great Wood. In 1931 the parish had a population of 3,323.[1]

The parish chuch is St John’s.

History

The name "Lepton" may mean 'leap farm/settlement'.[2] Lepton is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Leptone.[3]

Lepton was formerly a township in the parish of Kirkheaton.[4]
