Kirkton, Roxburghshire

Kirkton Church

Kirkton is a village and ancient parish in Roxburghshire, off the A6088, near Hawick. The parish is bounded by the parishes of Hawick and Teviothead in the west and by Cavers on all the other sides. It has a length of 8½ miles, from north-east to south-west, and its width (east-west) varied from half a mile to almost two miles. It has an area 6,222 acres.[1]

Places nearby include Abbotrule, Bedrule, Bonchester Bridge, Denholm, Hallrule, Hobkirk, Wilton Dean and the Wauchope Forest.
