Kilt Rock is a spectacular two hundred foot sea cliff on the east side of the Trotternish Peninsula of Skye, the greatest of the Inner Hebrides, in Inverness-shire. Down the face of the cliff tumbles a pretty waterfall, Mealt Falls, in a single drop of 200 feet.
It is a popular tourist attraction. A car park is found by the A855 which runs around Trotternish.
The name of the cliff is given from its appearance. It is composed of basalt columns, formed by volcanic activity, together creating a striking visual effect, resembling the folds of a Highland kilt.
Waterfall

On top of the cliff is a plateau, on which lies Loch Mealt. Water drains from the loch to the cliff-edge, where it plunges in a single drop to the sea, as the Mealt Falls.
