Kempsford is a village and parish in Gloucestershire, adjacent to the River Thames, which here forms the border with Wiltshire. It lies about two and a half miles south of Fairford. RAF Fairford is located near the village. The population was around 1,120 at the 2011 census.

History

At Kempsford Sir Thomas Thynne (died 1639) built a new country house, demolishing an important fortified house which in the Middle Ages had defended a crossing of the River Thames.[1]
