Hounslow Civic Centre was a municipal facility at Lampton Park in Hounslow, Middlesex. The building provided accommodation for many of the offices of Hounslow Council until 2019, when it was sold for development.
History
Construction and development
The building was planned in the early 1960s[1] in anticipation of the creation of the Hounslow Council in 1965. It was designed by the Council Surveyor, George Trevett, built at a cost of £4.9 million and opened in March 1976.[1] It took the form of four pavilions connected by a central spine containing the main staircase[2] and was set in extensive landscaping designed by Jakobsen Landscape Architects.[1]
After the civic centre became uneconomic to operate,[3] the building was decommissioned and the site handed over for residential development in summer 2019.[4]
Hounslow House
A new facility, known as Hounslow House, which was designed by Sheppard Robson and built by Bouygues in Bath Road, was opened in May 2019.[3][5]
