Hayton is a linear village along the B1403 road in noth-eastern Nottinghamshire, standing three miles north-east of Retford and close to the Lincolnshire border.
The neighbouring village, Clarborough is immediately to the south and adjoing Hayton with a barely a distinction between them. Both stand beside the Chesterfield Canal (east of the River Idle), the towpath of which forms part of the Cuckoo Way long distance walking trail.
According to the 2011 census, Hayton had a population (including Tiln) of 385
Parish church
The parish church, the Church of St Peter, is Norman, with 14th century windows.[1]
