Government House, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man, stands on Governor's Road in Onchan, north-east of and merging into the island's capital, Douglas.
The house was originally built as "Bemahague Farm" between 1820 and 1830. It was extended to its present size in 1904, when the Government of the Isle of Man bought the house for its current purpose: the island's capital had moved from Castletown in 1869.
The house today
As the official residence of the Lieutenant-Governor, Government House is used to provide accommodation for official guests to the island and extensively for official functions, such as receptions or dinners.

The house has eight main bedrooms and two large sitting rooms, service rooms and a wing of offices. The grounds of Government House cover approximately thirty acres.
