Location: 67°15’0"S, 67°42’58"W
Data

Day Island is an island lying in the northern part of Laubeuf Fjord, an inlet in the Loubet Coast, part of the west coast of Graham Land, between the Arrowsmith Peninsula and Adelaide Island, in the British Antarctic Territory.

The island is seven nautical miles long and three nautical miles wide. It is found immediately south of The Gullet and two nautical miles north of Wyatt Island.

Discovery and naming

The island was seen from the air and roughly surveyed from the ground by the British Graham Land Expedition in 1936 under John Rymill, who used the provisional name Middle Island for it, since it lies between Hansen Island and Wyatt Island. The island was resurveyed in 1948 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Stonington Island and renamed by them for Vice Admiral Sir Archibald Day, Hydrographer of the Navy.
