The little glen of the Carey River

The Carey River is a little river in the north of County Antrim. It rises within the Ballypatrick Forest amongst the northern parts of the Antrim Hills and runs north-westwards down to the gentler slopes of the coast, where it turns west, swallowing the Glenmakeeran River, which also emerges from the Ballypatrick Forest.

From here, the river continues westwards, cutting a sharp if shallow glen, and runs on to the sea at the mouth of the Glenshesk River]] in Ballycastle.
