Babbacombe Bay is a shallow, wide, north-south indentation into the south coast of Devon,[1] opening eastward into the English Channel and about four to five miles across its mouth.
The bay is bounded by Hope's Nose and Torquay to the south and roughly the River Teign and Teignmouth to the north.
The gold occurrence at Hope's Nose is well-known to mineral collectors.[2]
