Ashtown is today a small suburb of Dublin, and is also a townland of County Dublin.
The place stands by the Royal Canal, near the Navan Road. Nearby too is Phoenix Park: its Ashtown Gate entrance about 500 yards south of the railway station.
The suburb had a population of 13,209 inhabitants as reported in the 2016 census.
Teagasc has a food research centre at Ashtown.[1]

- Gaelic Athletics: St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh GAA, based in Martin Savage Park
- Football: Phoenix FC, formerly known as Kinvara Ards, also using Martin Savage Park for youth teams, and a football complex in Scribblestown for the senior team
