The Allardyce Range is a mountain range rising south of Cumberland Bay and dominating the central part of South Georgia.
The highest mountain of the range is Mount Paget which at 9,629 feet is also the highest point of the island and indeed of any British territory off the Antarctic continent. Another notable peak of the range is Mount Roots.
Although not shown on the charts of South Georgia by Captain Cook in 1775 nor by Bellingshausen in 1819, peaks of this range were doubtless seen by those explorers.
The range was named in about 1915 after Sir William Lamond Allardyce, Governor of the Falkland Islands, 1904-14.
