Achavandra Muir is a hamlet in Sutherland, about five miles from the county's eastern coast. It it to be found just off the A9 between Dornoch and Loch Fleet. Its name is from the Gaelic Achadh Anndra, meaning 'Andrew's Field'.
The land in the area is dominated by bog and crofting.[1]
Historically, Achavandra Muir was occupied by Father John Sutherland, who died on 23 January 1910.[2] In 1812 there were a reported twenty settlers in Achavandra Muir.[3]
