Aberbeeg is a small village at the confluence of the Ebbw Fach and Ebbw Fawr rivers in western Monmouthshire.
Nearby are the villages of Llanhilleth and Six Bells, where the former colliery allowed the whole community to thrive as part of the South Wales coalfield community.
Aberbeeg railway station used to be an important junction on the lines from Newport to Blaina and Ebbw Vale until its closure on 30 April 1962. The Ebbw Valley Railway re-opened to Ebbw Vale, but not the branch to Blaina in February 2008. A bus service between Aberbeeg and Llanhilleth, the nearest railway station on the line, runs every hour.
