Sgor Gaibhre is a mountain in the Grampian Mountains in Inverness-shire, rising between Loch Ossian and Loch Ericht. It reaches a height of 3,133 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.
The distinctive conical peak can be seen from the station at Rannoch. The east side has steep craggy slopes, while at the summit three ridges meet. The southwestern ridge connects to a low col and Mam Ban then on to the summit ridge of neighbouring Munro, Carn Dearg. The northwest ridge leads to the subsidiary peak Sgòr Choinnich before dropping down the moorland floor just east of Corrour. The south ridge leads to the Corbett Meall na Meoig.
Ascent
Sgòr Gaibhre is normally climbed in conjunction with neighbouring Carn Dearg, to which it is joined by a ridge. The ridge offers little in the way of scrambling as there is easy paths all the way but the eastern slopes as mentioned are steep and craggy and are best avoided.
From the summit are distant views of Loch Ericht to the east and the backbone of the Ben Alder range to the northeast.
