Gatesgarth is a little village nestled within the Lake District, in Cumberland. It is to be found just above the head of one of the most famous of the lakes, Buttermere, on the B5289 that runs up the dale and into the Honister Pass.
The stream running through the village is the Gatesgarth Gill, which feeds Buttermere. Buttermere Fell stands above the village to the north of the dale.
