Chiswick is a quiet Middlesex town close to the River Thames, long since engulfed in the suburban conurbation but retaining its individual charm and character. Chiswick High Road is the main shopping street.
The name of Chiswick is barely changed from its Old English name, Cesewic, but the town has developed somewhat since those days.
