Ascott Earl forms, with neighbouring Ascott D'Oyley, the combined village of Ascott-under-Wychwood, nestled along the south bank of the River Evenlode in the south-west of Oxfordshire.

The remains of a motte-and-bailey castle are found here, beside the River Evenlode.
