Atriceps Island lies amongst the Robertson Islands, which are a group of small islands off the south-east of Coronation Island amongst the South Orkney Islands in the British Antarctic Territory. Atriceps is the southernmost of the Robertson Islands.

Following survey by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Signy in 1948-49, it was named 'Atriceps Islet' after the colony of blue-eyed shags (Phalacrocorax atriceps) nesting there.
