Maivatn is the largest and deepest lake situated in a broad rock basin near the head of Maiviken. On the Thatcher Peninsula on the north coast of South Georgia. It is about 128 feet deep.

The lake is named in Norwegian in association with Maiviken: it means "May Water" or "May Lake", as "Maiviken" means "May Inlet".
