Maidalen is a gorgeous valley close by the north coast of South Georgia; a stepped and vegetated valley with several freshwater lakes just over a nautical mile long extending in a north–south direction. It extends from Lewis Pass down to the head of Tortula Cove by Maiviken on the Thatcher Peninsula.

This valley was originally considered to be a part of the Bore Valley but has since been determined that there ae two distinct valleys descending from Lewis Pass. It was named Maidalen ('May valley') by the Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1990 following in the Norwegian form and in association with Maiviken.
