Styrrup is a village on the B6463 road in the north of Nottinghamshire, south-west of the small town of Harworth, from which Styrrup is separated by the A1(M). The village close by the border of the West Riding of Yorkshire, and is surrounded by farmland. The A1 road intersection at Blyth is a mile to the south.
The population at the 2011 census was 685. Housing consists primarily of modern properties constructed in the 1970s and numerous barn conversions arranged off the Main Street. The local pub, The White Swan, has been demolished and replaced by modern housing.
In the Domesday Book the village appears as Estirapc, which is a name of unknown origin.
